RCENO Annual Meeting
The RCENO Annual Membership Meeting convened at 10:00 am on 12.14.2024, the meeting covered various updates and initiatives in Palm Springs by Guest Speaker Jeffrey Bernstein. Key points included the settlement of a Section 14 issue, resulting in a $5.9 million payout to 1200 former residents, and the allocation of $20 million over 10 years for affordable homeownership. The city also dedicated $1 million to minority entrepreneurs and opened two affordable housing units. Additionally, a $40 million library renovation is planned, and the city is exploring a tech-focused bachelor's degree. Concerns about traffic, pedestrian safety, and the need for more black cultural representation were raised. RCENO president, Denny, discussed earthquake and wildfire preparedness. Denny emphasized the need for an emergency kit and provided examples of what should be in an emergency kit. Guests won raffle prizes including several emergency kits. The meeting concluded with adding two new board members and financial updates.
